BD Building Charity Football Tournament
For this year’s Football Charity event we hosted some of our close partners and friends at the David Phillips Sports Centre, for a 5 a-side tournament.
Spirits before the games were high, as each the teams gathered on the pitch. Winning would claim bragging rights over all the other teams for another year.
To kick off the tournament Labour Revolution FC faced BD Building’s Shredded FC, and after a close game neither team could better the other and the game went to penalties. The first crucial moment came when Parkinson saved Crookes’ spot kick, which gave Labour Revolution FC’s Martin the chance to take advantage. Martin took it well with a slight delayed run up he buried it in the bottom of the net and Labour Revolution FC went on to win the first game of the tournament’s group stages.
In another close game between Class on Grass and Barnstoneworth United FC, who just edged past Macpherson’s men to move onto to the knockout stages.
Buyers Never Losing faced Raoul Moatrid in quarters which saw Buyers Never Losing progress into the semis.
No Bloody Kalou were also a tough team to crack and faced Shredded FC in a tense game, which ended up with captain Thibor’s team edging Shredded FC into the semi final.
In the end after close contests between all sides the final would be decided between Barnstoneworth United facing Buyers Never Losing and as the sun went down over the pitch. Buyers Never Losing showed character into the final but Barnstoneworth showed extra class and won in full time to take the prized trophy back to the Coach & Horses to celebrate a deserved win with the lads.
Big thank you to Barnstoneworth United, Buyers Never Losing, Raoul Moatrid, No Bloody Kalou, Class on Grass, Labour Revolution FC, Green Machine and Caldwell & Co and everyone who donated and spectated on the day to support Randwick Children’s Hospital.
Until next time Barnstoneworth United are our champions.
